Afro India Rolling Mills was established by its directors, recognising the the constraints in the export of scrap metals (their core business), as well as a growing demand for the manufacture of semi-finished products within South Africa.

AIRM strategically command a large marketshare, thanks to the procurement background of its sister company Afro India Recyclers, which is a scrap buying facility sourcing its raw materials from a network of local suppliers.
